Privacy Policy

This page explains what data DwellBudget collects, why, and what we do with it.

What we collect

• Email addresses — only if you subscribe to our weekly newsletter through a form on this site.
• Analytics — we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to measure page views, traffic sources (including referrals from Pinterest and search engines), approximate location (country and region, derived from a truncated IP address), device and browser type, and on-page actions such as outbound affiliate clicks, newsletter signups, Pinterest saves and video plays. Google processes this data on our behalf as described in Google's privacy policy. We use this in aggregate to understand which content is useful — we never attempt to identify you personally.
• Affiliate click data — when you click an Amazon link, Amazon records the click for commission attribution. We see aggregate click counts, never your identity.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your email address or share it with third parties.
• We don't run third-party advertising networks that track you across the web.
• We don't enable Google Signals, cross-device tracking, or Google Analytics advertising features — our GA4 setup is measurement-only.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_*) to tell unique visitors apart and measure sessions. These expire after up to two years. We also use a single first-party cookie to remember if you've dismissed the newsletter popup. Amazon may set its own cookies when you click through to amazon.com — that's governed by Amazon's privacy policy.

You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by using your browser's private/incognito mode and clearing cookies.

Email subscriptions

If you subscribe to the weekly tips newsletter, your email is stored with our email service provider. We send one email per week with new comparisons and budget home tips. Every email has an unsubscribe link — one click and you're out. Unsubscribe also deletes your address from our list within 30 days.

Your rights

Under GDPR and CCPA, you can request a copy of any data we hold on you, request deletion, or opt out of any future contact. Email privacy@dwellbudget.com and we'll respond within 30 days.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under that age.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we update the "last updated" date above. Significant changes get an announcement in the weekly newsletter.
